Data
Where the pools and map details on this site come from, and how to fix them when they're wrong.
Pool data
Pools on this site come from a few places:
- Some past pools come from the public export of otdb, by Sheppsu, used with his permission.
- Tournament hosts send their own pools.
- Community members send pools they played in or found.
More partners may join later. When two sources have the same maps, pools keeps one pool with both of them. Each pool page names its sources.
We read a pool's tournament, round and year from its name, so some are wrong. Admins fix what they find. Have a pool we're missing? Submit a pool.
Pools built here are different: people make them with the builder, and they aren't past tournament pools. A built pool that's unlisted or public and has maps gets a pack on packs, under packs' haruhime pools account, crediting its owner and editors and kept in step with the pool; the pack goes when the pool goes private or is deleted. Built pools never count toward where a map was played before.
Map data
Map details (artist, title, difficulty, length, BPM, AR, OD, CS and star rating) come from the hinai mirror, which serves osu! API data. A map the mirror doesn't have keeps what its source gave. pools reads only JSON. It never hosts or passes on .osz files, audio or images: Open in packs takes you to packs.haruhime.moe, which downloads each map from the mirror straight to your browser.
A pool's slots show star rating, AR, OD, BPM and length under the slot's mods (HD, HR, DT, EZ, HT, FL and forced custom mods; NM, FM and TB slots show no-mod values). Star ratings, AR, OD and CS with mods come from the hinai mirror's precomputed values and can differ slightly from osu!'s; BPM and length are worked out from the mod. A map the mirror has no mod data for shows its no-mod rating, marked "no mod data". The map browser shows the mirror's rating under the lens, marks AR, OD and CS it had to work out "no mod data", and searches Qualified and Pending maps without mods.
Where a map was played before comes from the pools on this site, so it only knows the pools we have.
Map covers and preview clips load in your browser straight from osu!'s servers; pools never passes them through its own. A slot's star range badge uses the same values as the slot, so a map without mod data counts as unknown there.
Content rules
The check follows the content rules for officially supported tournaments, from the osu! wiki's content usage permissions and official support pages. It uses @haruhimemoe/compliance, which follows the osu! Mappool Compliance project, and reads each beatmapset from the osu! API.
Searching every map uses the same rules on what the hinai mirror sends. For ranked and loved maps, that search can't see takedown notices, so it may show one that has been taken down. Check a pool runs the full check.
The check can be wrong. Its results are guidance, not rulings: the osu! Tournament Committee decides. A map it couldn't read is marked as such, never passed.
